Medway Valley Training Partnership

The Medway Valley Training Partnership: Specialists in the SCHOOL DIRECT TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES.

The Medway Valley Training Partnership comprises schools and academies from Primary to Secondary level from the Medway Towns to Maidstone in Kent, linked by the pretty Medway Valley railway branch line which runs from Strood station through to Maidstone West and beyond. Due to our success, MVTP has grown tremendously from our small partnership of five schools, two years ago to a partnership of twelve and counting from 2017/18. We are, consistently, the largest single recruiter of school direct trainees for our training partner Kent and Medway Training and one of the largest in Kent and Medway.

Since its inception in 2013, the School Direct route has rapidly become the preferred choice for teacher training in schools and colleges nationwide.

We, at Medway Valley Training Partnership firmly believe that the School Direct pathway into teaching has many advantages over the traditional initial teacher training routes, not least of which is the opportunity to experience school life at your preferred school right from the beginning of the academic year through to completion of your course and hopefully beyond. At MVTP we are dedicated to providing a training experience that equips trainees with the skills necessary to meet the challenges for a successful career in the teaching profession, whether you stay within the primary, secondary selective education system or non-selective sectors. For most subjects at secondary level, we are able to enhance your key stage 3 and 4 training with opportunities for experience of key stage 5 teaching.

The teacher training courses are run jointly with our initial teacher education (ITE) partner; Kent and Medway Training. KMT have been training teachers since 1998 and enjoy an excellent reputation for the quality of their training provision. Non-Salaried School Direct Trainees have the choice of  following a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) qualification; validated by the University of Brighton. Both routes fully prepare you for a successful career in teaching.

We strive to ensure that trainees have the relevant quality exposure to both the practical and theoretical elements of the course. To this end, training is delivered by practising teachers and professionals equipped with the latest skills and knowledge of delivering an ever evolving curriculum involving the latest research into teaching methodology and pedagogy. We are extremely proud of both the standard of our initial teacher training (ITT) programme and of the array of opportunities afforded to our trainees. We pride ourselves in the support given to our students, not just in their training year but also as newly qualified teachers. We are also proud of our success rate with 100% of KMT’s teacher graduates in 2016 now being employed in their first school; many in the home school in which they trained.

For more information, please explore our website which details the two school direct routes and the requirements for teacher training or download a copy of our brochure, here. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions concerning our teacher training courses or taster days so that we can welcome you soon on Medway Valley Training Partnership’s own “journey into teaching.”

NEWS. MVTP will be expanding it’s partnership of schools further from September 2017 giving entrants to the profession an even greater number of subjects and schools; both secondary and primary to which you can apply to train to teach.
