All applications are through the “Apply for Teacher Training” website .
- Please check that you are eligible for a teacher training course. You will find details about eligibility listed below or by visiting the DFE website here
- Look through the available courses at MVTP making a note of the Course code and School that you are interested in. A list of these is available here
- Search for the course on the government’s “Find Postgraduate Teacher Training” website
- Register with the DfE Apply www.apply-for-teacher-training.service.gov.uk/candidate/sign-up? and then complete their on-line application form searching for your course at Medway Valley Teaching Partnership. Please ensure that you have selected the correct course code (and school/campus if you wish to apply to a specific school).
- Upon receipt of the references from your referees, the DfE will then release your application for consideration by your chosen training providers.
- Your application will be assessed and suitable candidates invited for interview. Most interviews will be at your chosen school but online interviews are also an option, especially given any further COVID restrictions. For face to face interviews, you may be asked to complete the Kent and Medway Training Literacy and Numeracy audits. Online interviews will require you to complete these audits at a future prescribed time. These are to assess your knowledge in those areas to see if there are any gaps that we can help fill either before commencement of your course or during your course. Passing these audits is NOT a condition of any offer.
- After interview, successful candidates will be offered either an “unconditional” or “conditional” offer. A conditional offer is normally given if the teacher training eligibility criteria is not yet met in full. For example, you may still need to take a Skills, Knowledge, Enhancement course or we need to apply for an up to date DBS check or you are waiting for results of recent exams or degree award. There could be other conditions as relevant to your own personal circumstance
- We confirm your offer via email and on the DfE APPLY online platform.
- Once you have accepted the offer on the DfE APPLY online platform, your place is secured subject to any condition to the offer being met before the 1st September of the commencement of your course.
