The Robert Napier School is a member of the Beyond Schools Trust, together with Fort Pitt Grammar School and The Thomas Aveling School. We are a medium sized non-selective school based in Gillingham, Kent.

Rated by Ofsted as a ‘Good’ School, Robert Napier prides itself on being a happy school and striving for excellence in all we do. We have strong links with PGCE courses from Kent and Medway Training, Canterbury Christchurch and Greenwich Universities as well as having trainees from the “Researchers in Schools” programme.

The school has a very comprehensive training and induction programme and you can expect a high quality experience. You will be assigned a subject mentor that is experienced in supporting and nurturing trainees to become the best teachers they can be.  It does not stop there though!  Many of our trainees gain employment at the school and commence a 3 year ‘Teacher to Leader’ programme to develop them into the future leaders of the school, benefiting from a wide variety of professional development and leadership development opportunities. The school works closely with our partners, to deliver expert training in specific areas of the teaching standards and we also provide you with access to external training delivered by our local teaching School Alliances.   All of this is on top of the workshops, lectures and subject studies programmes led by Kent and Medway Training.

Our trainees are encouraged to become actively involved in extra-curricular activities after school hours and usually benefit from trips outside of the school and occasionally on residential trips in the UK and aboard. Together with a great range of teaching and learning environments and the latest technology incorporated into our facilities our trainee teachers are provided with the best opportunities for their professional development towards qualified teacher status.
